Aluminum VS Brass Ammo: Head To Head Comparison

Meh.

The summary “it’s great for practice, but use a premium SD round for defense” is kinda superfluous, since all the AL cased autoloader rounds I’ve seen are FMJ/TMJ.

I have used aluminum for years; can’t recall having any malfunctions directly attributed to it, or a higher rate of failures with it than with any other blaster grade ammo.

I am old enough to remember when aluminum cases came out in Blazer. Yes, it was a dirty ammo back then, after a shootibg session the gun was filthy. After a few years I tried it again and they improved and honestly after a while I could tell no difference in the handgun after firing aluminum or brass.

I remember it too. I have used it and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. That said, it’s like steel cased to me. It’s just not something I will buy if I have a choice. 9mm Blazer Brass is a buck or two more per box. Which I will pay. That’s just me.

Interesting article. Since it can't be reloaded, I have no interest in it. I have thousands of brass in calibers I shoot, most of which was paid for (and then some) years ago. At this point, my cost per round is based on primers, powder and bullets. I can see the merit for those who don't reload. I was excited yesterday to find two full .30 cal. ammo cans full of loaded rounds (.32 and .45 Colt) in the garage.
