My LGS north of Dallas had a winner around 1:00pm. Got an email.I was wondering if anyone on here was a winner yesterday. I live in OKC and got a notice that our gun range already had a winner before I was able to get there. It was nice to know before I made the drive. And thank you to SA for the 15% discount coupon for the online store.
Funny, my winning email came in at 1:29pmAlthough my entered code failed, I did purchase a 5” Prodigy. The LGS was sell both models (no optics), for $1399.00 ($100 off MSRP). I hung around the store until closing and was there when the winner entered the valid code. I received an email to my phone at 1:36pm stating that store had a winner, plus offering me the 15% discount. So, fun (and expensive) day spent at my LGS
Yeah, isn't that a coincidence. I was talking several times with the SA rep at the store beginning at 9:30am until he went to lunch a bit after 1:00pm (He was just walking back through the door when the guy's code opened the safe). I kept busting him that if no one won, I was laying claim to the prize. He told me 1) they're would definitely be a winner, and 2) there were about 5 different winning codes that the code generator had for that store. Talking to another customer (and knowing this LGS closed at 5pm), we wondered how a winner could be guaranteed. We figured that there must have been some algorithm in place that indicated if a winning code hadn't been entered by such and such a time, take the next code entered as the winner. Speculation on our part, and by no way did the SA rep state this, but it would be interesting to hear from others throughout the country on what time their "winner" email was sent to them. It would be interesting if most where after the 1pm time frame.Funny, my winning email came in at 1:29pm
I ask the SA Rep. at the LGS that was one, and which I attended for this event, what constitutes being an authorized dealer as far as this promotion was concerns. He informed me that there were only 100 throughout the country and these were the top dealerships in SA sales. My LGS happens to be one (it's sister store 15 minutes away is not), and SA came in about 1.5 years or so ago and installed a flatscreen TV that plays SA promotions continuously. My buddy was the gun counter manager, and when I asked him how they were selected, he also indicated that their specific store was one of the top SA product sellers in the State. This was one of the more clumsily run promotions that I have seen! I still have no idea of what constitutes a Springfield retail dealer or why some areas seem to have more, so called, retail dealers within easy access while others have dealers over 100 miles away. I had to enter the 'no close dealer' option and I have no idea if my entry was ever received.
Plus the fact that the so called secret prize was leaked a couple days before the drawing.
Same price at my local place.Although my entered code failed, I did purchase a 5” Prodigy. The LGS was sell both models (no optics), for $1399.00 ($100 off MSRP). I hung around the store until closing and was there when the winner entered the valid code. Agreed. I asked the SA Rep. whether the Trijicon SRO would fit the RMR footprint plate and co-witness (my aging eyes like the largest veiw area possible). Turns out, he's also a Trijicon Rep. and answered in the affirmative. He did mention that the plates would come at a cost which bummed me out a bit. I told him both Walther (for my PDP) and Beretta (for my M9A4), offered 1 free plate (you specify footprint), after registration and provided code. According to him, SA isn't doing that (possibly due to additional cost of having each plate come with the rear sight attached?). I'll have to look into how to go about getting a plate, which may be during registration which I haven't done yet.Same price at my local place.
I do NOT want the Dragonfly (thinking Trijicon for this), so I’m good with it.
Mine too...exactly - LGS in Dundee IL. One of those things that make you go hmmmmmm.Funny, my winning email came in at 1:29pm
I was told by the SA Rep. that everyone signed up at that Gun Store would receive an email right after the winning code was entered (this would give a heads up to those that had to travel significant distances, and not make the trip any longer than it had to be). I was there from 9:30am until store closing at 5:00 pm. I saw the winner and congratulated him, and received the email at 1:39 pm EST. less than 5 minutes after he won. I'm not sure if SA is making entry numbers public, but from the SA Rep. and Store employees, 1700 people signed up for this store and they estimated about 250+ people actually came and entered their code (they personally weren't keep count and not sure if the safe recorded # of entries). Being that this store is in Pennsylvania near the NJ and NY border, there were a few that came from those States at significant distances only to be told they were not eligible due to their State laws. Several claimed they were never told that, but I did see an email sent by Springfield the day of the event that listed the States not eligible.Mine too...exactly - LGS in Dundee IL. One of those things that make you go hmmmmmm.
I wonder if they just held all winners across the USA to drop one email? I was unable to attend due to personal business that came up, but those secret code numbers where issued to only those that checked in, exactly how this was verified, because on the day of, I think I or anyone could have requested their code w/o even showing up and maybe get to the LGS later if time permitted. So if 10-20% of those that signed up got the codes and didn’t show up, what did that do to the odds of winning?
Or was there a particular “time” that the code was set to open the safe, based on those who requested their codes. Mid-day or half way thru the contest?
Seems fishy or did the email drop cause more confusion or suspicion?
Folks got things to do whether early or late, no time to sit lingering around and have one big raffle considering that a LGS is open say at 10:00am to 5pm.
It was a bizarre event now reading what others had to say. Winner must be present, ok... but come in early and win right off the bat…poo-poo for johnny-come-lately, that ain’t fun!
Will or should SA: post the winners, number of contestants, number of codes issued, number of participating dealers and the time each winning code was entered.
I am pretty sure that there was only going to be 1 winner from the internet entries. No telling how many entries they got like that.I'm becoming more and more disappointed in Springfields handling of this promotion. I still don't know if my internet entry was ever received by Springfield.
I imagine that since I haven't received any notice, of anything, at this point in time that my internet entries were never received. Very disappointed!
You are probably right. I would have at least like to have known that they received my entry.I am pretty sure that there was only going to be 1 winner from the internet entries. No telling how many entries they got like that.
Plates are available online. $60 each.Agreed. I asked the SA Rep. whether the Trijicon SRO would fit the RMR footprint plate and co-witness (my aging eyes like the largest veiw area possible). Good luck, and hope you don't have to wait too long for one to arrive for you Hans. I'm interested on your views even if it's just handling one before you get yours. I'm very happy getting one, but with my recent luck the grip will probably fall off on first shot
Thanks Simon. I used the SA 15% to order the Trijicon plate and get the 3 different capacity Prodigy mags.Plates are available online. $60 each.
Thank you! I did and I am.The drawing (or whatever) for the online entries is today.
