RUGER GP100 Double Action Revolver 357Mag.​

Thoughts , experiences?
I own 3 Smith and Wesson Revolvers, this would be my first Ruger.

Yep; had one for over 20 years.

It’s nice, but I prefer a 686 over it.

Never owned the GP 100 but did own 2 Security-Sixs . First was blued and second was stainless. They were built like tanks.

I'd choose a Ruger revolver over S&W all day.

When I worked at LGS we sold a bunch of Ruger revolvers compared to S&W.

They still are.

The GP100 is just heavier, weight-wise; mainly due to having a cast frame vs the S&W’s forged.

It’s not heavier built; a load that will damage a 686 will do the same damage to the GP100.

Like I said, I own both, and I owned the GP100 first.

i have the GP 100 2.5" barrel, shoots .38/357

actually, quite a good shooter.

for me, it's a keeper.

Heck yeah...I got mine many years ago and shoot it a lot.

I love my GP100, but it is a bit different that others. Mine has a full IBOK trigger job and shims for the hammer and trigger. The single action is just a hair over 2 pounds, and silky smooth.

I have mounted a scope on mine for deer and sometimes hogs. I look forward to this piece being handed down in the family for generations.
