Any thoughts on Walther's new PDP?

(I know this is an SA forum,,,,but)
I was looking at them hard online today. I've got a PPS M2 I really like and a PPQ SC.
I decided I want the PDP Compact 4" (Probably sell the PPQ SC).

Anyone else looking at these?
Any thoughts on the model/firearm?

Thanks in advance for any perspective -
Looks like a fantastic pistol, trigger, grip and ergonomics look great, optics ready and honestly the price for the pre-sales are on point to.

If I didn't have all my money tied up in growing my business, then I'd definitely bu one (or maybe 2 compact and a full size)

Snag one before they sell out and are impossible to find, also after all the pre-sales are fulfilled the price will likely go up.

I'm sure it's a great pistol. But I'm having a hard time figuring out the business case for it at this point in time. Looks like a standard service pistol, so I assume they're targeting LE, and military contracts. Gonna be difficult to compete with Glock in that market, especially with the huge disadvantage they'll be at with accessories compatibility in that market. I don't see the US military shopping around for awhile after adopting Sigs. I guess foreign military contracts maybe shopping? But military contracts are few and far in between. Sure they put in big orders, but they do so every couple decades.

In terms of size and weight, to put it bluntly, for the CCW market, this thing is already obsolete compared to g43x, p365, hellcat.
I don't think its in the same market as the hellcat or the p365.

I carry a VP9 and have no issues concealing it in my Darkstar Orion holster (speaking of which Darkstar is already selling the Orion for the Walther PDP) The G19, VP9, PDP, MP2.0 are for people that don't mind carrying a little bigger gun that is way more accurate and controllable, plus my VP9 has flush fit 17rd magazines and I have extended 20rd mags as well, no hellcat, or P365 can compete with that.

And Glocks after market support is really only attractive to those who want to pimp their gun, my VP9 is stock, going to throw an RMR there soon and maybe a streamlight TLR7 and call it good.

The glock19 was the CCW benchmark for a long time. But it has long fallen by the way side as a dominant CCW choice primarily due to size and weight compared to other option, even from glock's own line. The PDP is essentially an updated answer to the glock19. People who still carry such a size pistol concealed nowadays are the exception, not the norm.

A few weeks after my OP (3/12) - I picked up a PDP 4" compact.
I don't use it for EDC as I've been carrying the P365XL since about the time it was released.
I like the PDP alot. It is a little bigger than a Glock 19 - Probably "feels" a little bigger than the actual dimension difference. Great grip. Great trigger. Its overtaken my Glock 19 in handguns I shoot the most (365XL and PDP)

I put a Holosun 507C ACSS Vulcan on it (my 1st pistol red dot). I love it - great choice.

I went with 2 different holsters -
For 2-gun classes -
Comp-Tac International with a Safariland QLS attachment to a Single Strap Leg Shroud (DFA). Wanted something that cleared the bottom of the vest, but not so low it was flopping on my mid thigh. I've ran it in 2 classes. Smooth function - no issues.

For concealed carry - winter/cool weather - (20% off sale)

Not much experience with Walther guns, do like the PPK/SS though, like the size and the reliability of it, a deputy friend has an older model, never had any issues with it he said, tried to get it from him, but no dice….lol
