Anyone in the SoCal area and.........

My LGS guy ask me if i wanted some of that California crap. i said what the heck are ya'll doin with that junk here. he brought out a couple pieces, a crazy lookin thing that makes you take the halves apart before a mag change and that goofy lookin wing. he said these people moving here from there bring them in to have it removed. I said that's great i just hope they left there liberal voting ways there.

My buddy is not a lefty and unfortunately for him he’s stuck where he is. He isn’t a huge gun guy but figures he ought to have an AR.
 
I think you have two choices for an AR in California.

One choice is the gun that you have to separate the halves to reload because the magazine isn't removable

The other choice is a gun with a removable magazines, but a bunch of other ridiculous complications like the long fin on the "grip". It comes off with one Allen screw and a proper grip can be swapped. A 'California Compliant' AR has to have a fixed stock and no forward grip, etc.


I bought a Springfield Saint. Evidently, cops in California immediately know whether an AR is compliant or not (at least one of them does), so I wait until I'm out of California to put a pistol-grip on it.

It sucks. But it's better than no gun at all. I bought it before they added the 11% firearm tax. In addition to Sales Tax, taxes end up being around 20%. I'm buying another AR for the Oregon house, and there's no Sales Tax either
