AR Magazine Brands

Enough people appear to be concerned about the possibility of magazine capacity limits to cause yet another rush on standard capacity magazines. I personally prefer stainless steel or aluminum AR magazines from Okay Industries or Duramag to polymer. While I prefer metal, Magpul has established a strong enough reputation for quality that I trust their polymer PMAGs (Springfield even included one with my Saint AR).

Okay Industries mags are sold out at my usual retailers, and prices for Duramags and PMAGs are starting to raise. I've received multiple e-mails offering Amend 2A magazines for $7.99-$9.99. I have no experience with Amend 2A products. Do any of you use and recommend Amend 2A magazines? Are there other, lesser-known magazine brands that have impressed you with their performance?

I have 10 of them. 4 of them do not drop out of the magwell on their own. They all feed flawlessly and hang the bolt open on the last round.

While I don’t own any AR’s, I have been using Mapul Glock mags with no issues, fit and function perfect.

I have had good luck with Hexmag and Mission First Tactical Extreme Duty mags in limited usage.

Have shot thousands of rounds through the Hexmags, only approximately 500 to 1k through the MFT ones.

I have 3 Amend2 Mags I got on sale awhile back for like $7/ea so I gave them a whirl. They feed fine, seem to lock back on last round, but none of them drop out of the magwell when released.

I prefer Polymer mags to the metal ones.

Lancer makes really nice Polymer body mags with metal feed lips

Hexmags are pretty good too. And of course Magpul.
