AR!)'s are not mil spec and a whole different animal when it comes to parts exchange.

I stand by my statement. It's not that difficult to make them mil spec. I was under the impression that as long as you went one way or the other all parts would interchange.

I question whether the bolt is DPMS. I purchased/tried a Wilson (improved) firing pin, which is DPMS; doesn't fit.

I've googled the snot out of it. Found a JP ejector, but doubt that it will work (have a question in to JP tech service).
Also asked SA tech service about it and how to get a replacement; no response so far.

Ha... I hope to never take the little bee-otch out again (reduce probability of losing again), but I also hope to never get another headache.

Also, I don't want to buy another BCG just to get an ejector!

tip diameter and taper or not is why pins don't work. both are round on the end, but the difference is before it! even if it's a 308win bolt only and not a hp bolt for 260rem, 6.5creed, 22-250rem, 243win and so on as the bolt will work as it's the same face, the pin to bolt is the cause!

best to measure the tip size even if it doesn't have the taper. some brands will NOT work with others............ask me how I know ! post a pic of the "enhanced pin and bolt (bolt pic from pin side, not face)

the high-pressure bolts WILL have a smaller tip pin (1's I have do) and be tapered (tip size .690") and non-tapered (pin size .745"). the tapered pin WILL fit into the non-tapered bolt style, but is unwise to use that way.

There is no “mil spec” on the AR10, as no model has been approved for general issue; some units ran Knights SR25’s or M110’s; other units ran HK MR762’s, others Sig 716’s…

he's not saying that....he says "it wouldn't be that difficult". then again most wouldn't want it to be mil-spec as it's a game for those brands to be something of their improved or new

That's correct, exactly what I've experienced. "Mil spec" is a sometime thing.
And, some parts of the SA308 are DPMS, some are not.

Well, admittedly I am not an AR-10 guy, but it's pretty stupid to have proprietary small parts like that. If that is indeed the case.

I agree. To have proprietary parts and then not provide replacements is not good. And I have found that the only way to determine whether some parts can be replaced by generic ones is to buy something and try it, IF I can even find something to buy and try!
