Iraq was a Soviet client state. The vast majority of its equipment was Soviet Bloc. According to the arms transfer data base our sales consisted of about 80+ light and medium helicopters in the 80s which were no longer in production. The only helicopters we encountered in the war were of Soviet design and manufacture.
