In a letter Wednesday to Attorney General Merrick Garland, Empower Oversight said it had learned from two sources that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was directed by the White House to make the change and “has drafted a 1,300-page document in support of a rule that would effectively ban private sales of firearms from one citizen to another by requiring background checks for every sale.”

Biden admitted his goal was to “move us as close as we can to universal background checks.”

In the state of pritzger we have to do our own leg work by checking the ISP's website to see if the buyer has a valid F.O.I.D. before we can sell privately.
I don’t get it though. If I want to sell a shotgun to my friend, cash in hand, as long as there’s no warranty stuff involved, here you go. No one is the wiser. I’m not planning to do that, just playing the devil’s advocate.

It’s completely unenforceable without registration. Which is unconstitutional. Pricksger’s law will eventually be struck down as well.

That's the way it has been in Virginia for about 4 years. Don't be fooled; requiring universal background checks is another step in requiring universal gun registration. Folks own millions of firearms that have never been listed on a 4473 and the feds have no idea of who owns them. The only way the gov't can force a person to comply with background checks on private sales is to know what that person owns. Being forced to do a background check is nothing more than an official "transfer" of ownership which will require an FFL to complete. Here in my area FFLs charge about 30 bucks to complete these background checks.

biden directing the atf, has no teeth, but will be pushed through until lawsuits change it. unless he writes a E.O which sadly, the supreme court ruled that "SOME" of obamas E.O.s were considered law, particularly ones surrounding affordable health care act even though they never went through congress to create a law. and thus trump could not terminate them.

many presidents have written them, and then the next guy either removes them or ignores them.

we the people have to pressure the congress each day to reign in agencies that have no authority to write law.

but congress gave up their power long ago. they are all bluster and manure.

remember the old saying... its better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission.
this is the way of DC so we routinley get skewered at first.

gun control is a death of 1k cuts, just a bit here, just a bit there, until one day the plate is emtpy.

Colorado got Universal background checks in 2013.

Now Colorado has a 3-day waiting period and at some point I'm expecting them to go for registration.

If the Fed passes a universal background check law they'll wait two or three years and point out that the law is absolutely worthless because of the number of firearms that are not on paper in America and then they'll push for registration.

I said this before a bunch of times and I'm going to say it again we lost this war when we let the Leftists take charge of our public education system.

If America lasts another generation the powers that be will tell our grandchildren who spent their entire life from kindergarten to college in the state-run indoctrination system that guns are bad and they should turn them all in and they will.

Oh, and remember, the Devil is always in the Details.

The rule or regulation or EO or however it's done will no doubt specify no transfer without background check. "Transfer" will soon be interpreted as just lending a friend a firearm--or even handing it to your buddy at the range to try. You think this won't happen? ATF is shutting down longtime legitimate dealers over simple typos on 4473s. An evil government will bend any law they want to to punish anyone they want to punish.

Where is the Constitution specifically forbid registration? And it's a constitution does specifically for bed registration how is it that states like New York and California and cities like Omaha have firearms registration?
Firearms Owners’ Protection Act (FOPA), 1986Under 18 U.S.C. §926, the Attorney General is authorized to prescribe the rules and regulations necessary to carry out the GCA. Section 6 of FOPA amended §926 to prohibit a registry of firearms, firearms owners, or firearms transactions. The pertinent language of §926 reads No such rule or regulation prescribed after the date of the enactment of the Firearms Owners’ Protection Act may require that records required to be maintained under this chapter or any portion of the contents of such records, be recorded at or transferred to a facility owned, managed, or controlled by the United States or any State or any political subdivision thereof, nor that any system of Statutory Federal Gun Registry Prohibitions and ATF Record Retention Requirementshttps://crsreports.congress.govregistration of firearms, firearms owners, or firearms transactions or dispositions be established. Nothing in this section expands or restricts the Secretary’s [Attorney General’s] authority to inquire into the disposition of any firearm in the course of a criminal investigation.(P.L. 99-308, May 19, 1986, 100 Stat. 449, 459.)

I've also said this a bunch of times before and I'm going to say it again

How many times do they have to tell you that they intend to disarm you before you believe that they intend to disarm you?

When the Cambrian measures were forming, They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "Stick to the Devil you know."

When did the Firearms Owners Protection Act become part of the US Constitution?

FOPA is a Law, just like the 55 MPH speed limit is a Law. Laws can be repealed

i have only sold 1 gun privately, to my shooting buddy.

i know he has a good background, cuz he bought his G-19 at the LGS.

but for me, even when selling my vehicles?

i trade them in and be done with any more responsibility.

which i'll sell my guns to the LGS, and if i want more money?

i'll put them on consignment, which frankly THAT SUCKS, cuz the potential new owner may not pass the background check (i actually had that happen), and it makes me wait LONGER for a sale..

so screw that route as well...

down right sale to the LGS, be done with it, for me....
