Bank of America Gave “Weapon-Related” Purchase Data to the Feds

I know for a fact that if I were to give anyone besides those that are on a list, ANY medical information about a patient, not only would I lose my job but I am liable to be in big trouble with State and Federal. It’s called HIPAA!

I’ve got a sidebar question:
If you order ammo and the sender ships it USPS (postal), does the postal system know it’s ammo they’re delivering to you ??
My sister has been a postal carrier (rural route) for yrs, and I recently asked her that question. She says she only pays attention to the address and the size and weight of the pkg. Contents don't concern her, she "just delivers the mail", as she says. She has over 700 addresses on her route, and states she is not concerned about contents.

Good to know- and Thanx!
I wasn’t all that worried about letter carriers knowing who had guns as much as some overall Fed data being recorded... (paranoid sounding, i know...)

I was always under the impression that ammunition could only be shipped by FedEx or UPS. And only with the appropriate Hazmat labeling. As far as I can remember, USPS does not allow shipment of ammunition. Maybe they changed the laws, not sure.

I have most definitely rec’d ammo by USPS...
But for a long time I didn’t think they shipped it either.
I looked at the USPS website, and it says ammunition is prohibited from shipment, but like you, I think I have received ammunition in the mail before. I just had a FedEx delivery today of some 7.62 x 51, and it had a hazmat code on the box. Maybe some shippers don't know the federal regulations?

Hmm... I’ll have to check that out...
Wonder if theres any diff between “personal” shipments and what business can send? (Sill ques I know).
I have a purchase coming now and they shipped PO. Got a tracking number and all.

This BOA incident concerns me on many more levels than just the obvious invasion of privacy. I would like to know how BOA decides that a particular purchase is "firearm related". I have purchased a few guns from my local Academy, but I also buy my kids' sporting equipment from that store. Would all of my purchases from Academy be "firearm related" by BOA's standards?

I also wonder about things like merchandise from Youtube personalities. Demolition Ranch and Kentucky Ballistics are wildly successful guntubers, but I do not believe that the stars of these channels sell any firearms. Do hats and t-shirts purchased from their merchandise stores count as "firearm related"? The NRA also doesn't sell firearms. Are charges for membership dues tracked by BOA also?

I have many issues with BOA's conduct and would like to see them all thoroughly investigated.

I agree. Very disturbing that a financial institution would stoop to such a low.
With so many laws on the books concerning the disclosure of personal information any institution that goes against those basic principles need to be held accountable.
