Barrel Nut Wrench

The nut is round with slots for 4 pins. I did call BCM and they said their wrench won't work but I may have talked to a guy who just didn't know. The gun came as a pistol with a brace in 5.56. I had a gunsmith change the barrel to 300 Blk. He has passed away so I don't what wrench he used. I am now going to convert it to a 16" barrel 5.56 to avoid the brace hassle. Actually a 14.5 barrel with an integral 1.5" brake from Faxon. I'm not far from BCM so I think I'll just drive over there. Thanks to all.

If @xdman said the BCM wrench would work I would believe him as he does tons of work on Springfield Armory firearms.

The BCM rep probably doesn't want to speak out of context given the Springfield rifle isn't their product.

Automotive strap wrench, maybe?
You could, or get the BCM wrench…..hmmm it’s almost like BCM designed the Saint Barrel nut 😉. Remember BCM was a close original partner with Springfield on the Saints.
trouble with strap wrench is that it will slip, SA tightens the barrel nuts to the top edge of torque. They Do not use locktight, but people swear they do. Then on reassembly it will be harder to time the nut with the handguard With a strap wrench.

They both have the slots, but the difference is that Springfield locks the handguard via screws that go around the nut.

So, *I* know you are the Springfield guru, and I don’t doubt you…

But the OP contacted BCM directly and they said didn’t know…who’s a guy with no experience to believe?

So, I was giving options.
