What the more seasoned opinions on;
- brand new firearms coming from the factory a bit over-oiled or carelessly
- examining (new) spent casings to compare with ones fired after several hundred rounds for any signs of odd wear/markings
Lubed for shipping and storage is not oiled and lubed for operation. Clean all that shite out of there first or clean it out after it's been heated up and baked on.

I don't pay much attention to factory oiled guns unless they are a pain in the butt to clean out of there. Which most of it isn't. I mean it's not cosmoline is it.
Most people dramatically over oil their guns. Especially AR's. I hear all the time, "AR's like to be run wet". I disagree. They like to be oiled in the right places, but dripping with oil is just a waste of oil and a pain to clean out later. Most 1911s like to be pretty wet.
Probably not a bad idea to inspect casings every so often, although I don't give it much thought unless there is some other kind of obvious problem.
