Best 1911 Upgrade? Stan Chen SI Magwell

Fantastic upgrade! Fit and finish is even better than I hoped for.

Personally, since my 1911s are not range toys and I actually carry one concealed I have zero interest in magwells. The butt of the gun is what is hard to hide, so I want to shrink it not make it even longer. Why Colt does not have a Concealed Carry Officers model in the catalog on a regular basis mystifies me. A Commander top end on an Officers frame, now that I can get behind. Shorter barrels on the 1911 are not as reliable as a Commander length. I had a Kimber in this configuration and it was a gem. Should not have sold it. But it had a flared bull barrel without a bushing and I could never warm up to the balance. But that short Officers grip made a really easy concealed carry piece. So many manufacturer's put short slides on a full size grip and try to convince us that is the hot set up, when I think it is 180 degrees out of phase. The Ed Brown Bobtail is a nice move however. I carry this .357 Sig Commander length quite a bit and the break in the grip does help prevent printing under a shirt.

I'm not a fan of mag-wells. To properly seat the magazine, you need to add bump pads to them. They add length to both the gun and the mags.
And then these are only offered with flat mainspring housings. I prefer arched.
I suppose it could be helpful on a competition only gun. But I see no advantage for a carry gun.
