Hey Y'all,
New to the AR 15 .556 realm and I absolutely love it!
Have a SA Saint Victor 1:8 twist. Can y'all give me some advice to the best ammo for this firearm? I understand 62 or 77 grain, any preference on brand, type etc.
Thanks All,

Like asking which gas is the best to use in cars. All firearms are different, what works best in one may not work well in another even within the same brand.
I'm buying some .55 grain stuff for plinking.
Out of 1:14 twist barrels, at that...barely stabilized the bullet. This considering since it will likely be cheaper & more available due to the current events. Not just for plinking but more importantly for drills.
55 gr is perfectly fine for delf defense. The whole Vietnam War was fought using 55 gr. M193.
So true!Out of 1:14 twist barrels, at that...barely stabilized the bullet.
And, yes, with the 1:8 twist, you can pretty much run anything; the super-heavy 80+gr bullets may not give very good accuracy, though. Super light-sub 40gr-may not run well, either.
I've found this to be true already... thx,Like asking which gas is the best to use in cars. All firearms are different, what works best in one may not work well in another even within the same brand.
Thx, home/self defense. And fun, it will not be my first and only AR. And probably sooner rather than later IF the new regime wins. That right there is the truth.
In general, my answer is... it depends.
Depends on the purpose (home defense? Plinking only?) and what’s available. I shoot 55 gr in my Saint. But I’d also shoot 62 gr if I found some and saw that POI was nearly identical.
Magpul makes a pretty decent bipod for around $100.00 or you can also pickup a much cheaper UTG bipod on amazon in the $30.00 range that will hold up just fine for range plinking.Since I'm here, I'm shopping now for a bipod for the Saint, any recs? Thanks in advance!
Primary Arms has been my main go to for everything firearms. Best prices and fast shipping! They get a majority of my online shopping business.Check out Primary Arms. Usually good prices?
