Ummmm? Ok but what are you talking about? - "Our grand kids will never know the freedoms most of us have enjoyed during our lifetime. Sadly, I don't think we haven't done a very good job in protecting those freedoms."
Pretty much this statement by Somorris about lost freedoms we enjoyed in relationship to some we may lose and possibly why? - Thinking, seeing that many kids lost respect for others because of sometimes low parental guidance, confusion over who's responsible for their kids while here or there when getting in legal trouble for normal parental disapline, neglect and other reasons. Sometimes "latch key kids", ect. Those kids got a bit older, and some didn't turn out so hot? Plus, while many, if not too many people were so busy working because of poor economy, beside sometimes effecting kids, it also effected other things like politics and laws.
Smoking or drinking, enjoyed or not, were only used as examples most could possibly relate to and visualize, examples of freedoms enjoyed by many people that were sometimes abused by others that led to limiting behavior and overly strict laws effecting those behaviors - just like guns may be if some get their way?
For a little more specific example, used to be when someone was drunk, police may stop them, escort them home, find someone to drive them home or drive them home and that was it, end of story. Now? Totally different story. Abuse of something, almost anything, can increase likelyhood of a law being enacted where there was virtually none before.
The "Victorianism" may sound far fetched in some ways, but observations say movement is alive and well.
In my opinion from different observations, most gun ownership in this country, likely at least 90% is by decent, honest everyday people. I for one don't want to lose that freedom or have it impacted worse by some yahoo who abuses people and weapons. Make better sense now? Hope so.
