Bill Prohibits Tennessee Doctors From Asking Patients About Gun Ownership

My PCP, since 1998, goes to the same sportsman's club as I so no problems there.

About 15 years ago the BIGGEST medical outfit in PA, which my PCP works under, started trying to get political and control people and was asking those questions. That got shutdown pretty quick!

However, about 10 years ago I was in the middle of a procedure where a female plastic surgeon was removing a cancerous growth off the side of my abdomen. In the middle of the procedure a conversation came up where I mentioned that I ride a Harley motorcycle. The Dr became furious, talking very loud demanded that I have to stop that immediately, that riding motorcycles was the most dangerous thing there is. She was so upset that she barely finished the procedure and left the room. Her assistant had to close me up. Needless to say I never booked another appt with her anymore.

She got so upset she didn't even get all the growth out before she left the room. A year later I had another surgeon get all the growth out.
She probably would have stabbed you if she knew you had guns. Dr's take an oath "To Do No Harm" it doesn't say anything about not being stupid.

Before I commit to a family doctor I ask their opinion on the 2nd Amendment. If they ask me why I refer them to their required medical history form they had me fill out and my past experiences and career choice. If they're going to ask me a personal question about my personal choices, then I have the right to ask them. It's none of their business whether I have guns and lying to a doctor is not illegal.

One doctor had a big sign at his entrance door prohibiting guns. I ignored it, AZ law does not recognize a doctors office as a gun free zone whether it's private property or not. AZ also has it's own version of LEOSA. When I asked him about the sign, he laughed, said his insurance company required it. He said he sent his entire office staff to Gunsite for training and all carry while in the office. He lifted his shirt to show me his Glock 19. I showed him my 1911. (y)
