Bourbon trip

Took a trip to KY for part work and part R&R. Twisted @SimonRL to go with us.
Picked barrels for a store owner at 4 distilleries.
VIP all the way around. Stayed in Louisville and ventured out from there.
Distilleries visited:
Makers Mark, Buffalo Trace, 1792, knob Creek, Jim Beam, Michters, Old Forester, Bardstown and Chicken Cock
Simon did a tour of the Slugger baseball bat factory as well.

Started in Louisville

Then off to Michters, Bardstown and Old Forester

Old Forester , Buff Trace, J Mattingly, and Whiskey Thief .

Chilled out at Whiskey Thief in the sun before going back to Louisville

Pretty amazing how long they leave that whiskey in them barrels.

4-10yrs for most . 6 yrs is avg for most bourbons, but it really varies by distillery

Barrel picks and VIP tour. Makers also has a full blown art collection and tour. Gorgeous facility.
Famous glass maker Chihuly did the ceiling into the gift shoo

Back to whiskey thief at end of day, then off to a restaurant with worlds largest whiskey collection.. and then off to another bar ..

Good to hear the bluegrass treated you well. Bardstown Distillery is really something isn't it? Those new rickhouses are beautiful. Next time swing by Lexington. We've got the old James E. Pepper buildings and some newer places in the distillery district of town. Lots of history here too.
