I’ve done it, but I don’t use the same manner; I tend to “speed rock” to make a fast shot. Can put it in the head at under 10 feet, in the body out to 30.
Yes. But took a long time to get down with one fluid motion moving the shirt with one hand and gun with other. Drive grip into side from holster and shoot from hip. Can hit body in 3” group on double tap at 5 yards and 4” center mass at 7 yards. Long long long long time of practice repetition
Still practicing. Double tap to body in a little over 2 seconds, single to head in 3 at 7 yards. Focusing more on accuracy than speed right now and think it will come with more practice.
I know my limitations. I carry with a security holster, even concealed. I'm not going to make a 1 second draw or hit, but 2 to 2.5 seconds is doable. My most carried guns are full size 1911s.
Can I ..? Probably if I work on it. But there are things you can do to lessen the shock. Situational awareness is key. Staying aware in a store or gas station...staying off the phone and just reading the crowd gives you often 2 or 3 seconds to prepare.
I really wish they would have closed captioning on these videos. When I was learning to shoot as a kid, the attitude was "ear plugs are for sissies." Add in service in artillery units & a few months as a door gunner, & the most common word in my vocabulary is "What?"
From a low ready at 10 yards, yeah. From a legit CC position? Not so much. I run against a timer in practice all the time and 1 second goes by REAL quick
