Canada wants us back

Only been to Ontario a couple times (on both ends), and while its a nice place, we haven't been with Canada since 1776.

I think most of the Ontario population is in the eastern part with not many folks between McDougall to Sault Dt. Marie and then to Thunder Bay, and the last two have important links/relationships to the near-by US states.

My .02

1776, dammmm you have been around the block sir :ROFLMAO:

The one and only time I was in Canada was when I toured the Gaspe Peninsula on my motorcycle with two friends back in September of 2006, a great trip I’ll never forget.

Dressed in multiple layers because it was very cold.
Wouldn’t even think about crossing the border now.

Going to Canada is nothing new nor special for people living here. Not much different than here with the exception of remembering no firearm. People are nice enough, there are some pretty places, same as we have here. Toronto is the cleanest big city I have ever seen, by far. It's the only way to go to Niagra Falls if we want to go, its so much faster.

used to go when I was a kid a lot, the drinking age was lower so we went over on weekends to the Pinery Campground to party. Went over oh maybe once a month for a while to go watch the pony races. 20 minutes from home and we could watch the ponys and sulkys all night for free, maybe bet a few bucks and have a nice steak dinner and a few drinks while being entertained. But the track is closed now so no ponies either. Used to go downriver, get on the ferry and cross over then drive back to the bridge to look at Christmas lights over there too. But the ferry is gone now and it was the fastest way across.

Further north is nice, closer to an Alaska feel than lower 48. Some nice fishing in the lakes up there.

But overall have not gone over in a few years, mother keeps mentioning going over to the casino but we have not taken her up on it.

Never been to Canada. In my whole life I've only met one Canadian and that was about 40 years ago. Nice enough fellow though. I don't have anything against Canada.
But it does seem that for the last few years that every time you hear about Canada its because of the latest liberal/socialist law they've passed. I'm starting to wonder if they're as good a neighbor as we think they are?

The people, for the most part, I like to think we’re all friendly. Politics, it’s very liberal. And with no term limits, the liberal party has remained in power for waaaaaay too long. Once eastern Canada has voted, it’s all over. One of these days western Canada will have had enough and will follow through on its threat to separate from the rest of Canada. Canadians are being taxed to death.

I spent a few months in B.C. and NW Washington in the late 60's to hunt. 50 years later our ship docked in Victoria on the return trip from our Alaska cruise. I found the sights to be stunning and the people friendly. I have family living in B.C., perhaps we should drop in on them. One of them is a retired medical examiner. He has good stories about people killed by bears and mountain lions.

I'll take living on the Canadian border over Mexican any day personally.

One side of the family tree goes back further with a relative fighting on the Brit side in the French & Indian War, then was smart enough to be an officer in the Revolutionary Army.

That side may have also served on the North (Union) side in the Civil War.

One part of the other side was here in the early 1800's. The other part if that side got the hell out of Europe early enough to Grand dad to go back in WW1, and several more relatives including Dad to go back again in WW2.
