Canadian wildfires…again 😒

We’re up at the Iron Range for a celebration of life for a friend this weekend. I woke up with a scratchy throat and my voice is about 4 octaves lower than usual. I thought I was getting sick, but no…when we went to put the luggage in the truck, the air was thick with smoke. It cleared off a little bit in Coleraine, but when we hit the road back toward home, it’s getting worse again.
I found that there’s a bad fire in northeastern British Columbia that forced a community of 3000 in Fort Nelson to evacuate. And so another season of nasty air begins…😢

I was going to say, "there's no fire where I'm at". Wrong Canadian as it's drizzling today.

Where I live we have annual, or at least every other yearly controlled burns.

Sure we have the out of the ordinary wildfire in Western North Carolina every now and then, but you don't see us counting fire damage in the BILLIONS of dollars.

Forestry management means something to us here.

Don't bet your property, or your life on the tree hugger Socialists, you'll lose

We're starting to smell the smoke here in the SE portion of SoDak. It reminded me of when I was a kid, a looong time ago, and burning leaves in the fall after we had raked them.

Hi,

Forestry management means something to us here.

California could take a lesson. The Grand Prix fire got within two miles of my house in 2003. Several of my friends lost their homes. The forests and the water reservoir systems have been terribly mismanaged for decades.

I hope you feel better soon Ms. @belladonna. Prayers for the situation in BC.

Thank youforyourindulgence,

BassCliff
