Canik TTI Combat - Good enough for Taran Tactical, but good enough for....

It's a shame Canik has give up their QC, it used to be second to none. i have several Caniks and none has givin me any trouble except with sterling ammo. they will not run it. i do have a couple rivals that look like the new TTI one and they come with the extra low power spring. when you put that in they will run the sterling. Maybe all the people need is to change the spring.. Some of this cheap ammo is loaded pretty light.

Every YouTuber alive has reviewed one and all praise them. of course they won't say nothing bad as they want people to keep sending them guns. why i don't watch anyone that doesn't buy their own guns to review. anyway it still looks like their rival and overpriced about 4 to 500 bucks cause of the TT stuff.

Same thing happened with the H9 and despite all those over the top, glowing endorsements and only “2%” of H9s having any problems Daniel Defense is redesigning the barrel and replacing them in every gun sold at their own cost.

The user resolved the problem and posted...

Problem turned out to be an over lubed striker and striker channel. Also the Winchester 9mm 124 Nato ammo was also a problem. Cleaned the striker and changed ammo and it ran like a champ. Love the gun,

Other buyers also posted about over-lubed from the factory, and once cleaned up ran fine, although some felt the striker & recoil spring were too light. That's understandable since the pistol looks to be set up for competition.

The moral of the story is one should always clean out the factory protective oil before operating, and if you have a competition gun set-up it might be finicky.

I've lost count of all the issues I've seen with folks with the latter.

The Canik TTI Comat is a collaboration between Canik and Taran Tactical. John Wick would be proud yet the price is right.

I put TT's +5 extensions on my 9mm PPQ mags and haven't looked back. Look sharp and perform great for Action Pistol.

There’s been problems with crud in the striker channel, some people have switched to the alternate recoil spring and others have sent them back. I don’t think there is an isolated cause. I don’t know why people don’t clean and lube a new gun given the many issues we’ve seen and doing so removes one layer of culpability if something goes wrong, but I have never cleaned the striker channel straight out of the box.

That’s been an issue with ALL striker guns. It’s why they all caution against lubing the striker or even getting lube into the channel.

The morals of the story #2

1) Not cleaning the factory preservatives from a new firearm = Operator Error

2) Using ammo that the firearm wasn't tuned/designed for = Operator Error

3) Complaining about a firearm when the owner doesn't do #1 & #2, then told how to fix the issue = Operator Eating Crow

I broke down and bought a Canik TTI Combat for curiosity sake if nothing else (Got one for under $900 w/tax out the door at a local gun store). It was definitely a want and not need (like most of my guns). I already had a Rival and found it to be a really nice pistol, so I figured why not? I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, it is pretty much a TP9 METE with a bronze finish a compensator and some additional details. Overall, I like it. It does shoot very well, like every other Canik I've had. It is also at a good price point, all things considered. Very accurate, balanced and easy to shoot fast. I haven't even bothered with a red dot and do not see a need for one on this pistol. 5-25 yards with irons it is quick and accurate as it is.

This said, I have made a few observations. The Compensator is effective, I'd say about a 15% - 20% reduction in "felt" recoil for me with 115 grain ammo. The recoil spring that is installed when you get the pistol is for "hotter" rounds similar to 124 grain NATO. The low power spring works better with most of the "other" lighter stuff. The stippling is nice and an upgrade over the rival. It grips very well. The pistol points "naturally" for me with Medium grip insert and I have large hands, YMMV. Now, would I use it in a competition.....eh, probably not. It isn't that it is not a good firearm but it is, IMHO, designed more for a larger defensive firearm for home, truck, etc. Could you EDC it? Yes, but why? It is large and there are better options out there for that. The bottom line it is a "want" gun and if YOU want one, get one. It does nothing that a well tuned Glock, Smith, Sig, etc. can do. But, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, right out of the box. It is a really nice pistol and especially for the money it is an outstanding buy. When/If Canik makes a steel frame version, I will buy it too. Why.....because I want it.

WhenCanik first started appearing on the shelves they were at a really low price. it was a well made handgun at a really good price. they sold like hotcakes.

I have noticed over the years that they have gone way up in price as they got more popular. they were the first Turkish guns to be sold around here. That combat is 1100 bucks here, about 4 to 500 more than that Rival i posted. only big difference is the compensator. that and the name Taran Tactical.

It's a nice looking gun and a good shooter i imagine but way overpriced for a turkish handgun.
You know naming it “tactical” is an automatic 30% increase in price, right?
