Car, Truck, Scooter Thread, Watcha Got/Watcha Want...

I wish I still had my 1979 F-150 4x4. It had the 300 CID straight six cyl , 4-speed tranny with granny low , lock in/out front hubs , AM radio , ash tray , and nothing else. Cost me $9,000.00 brand new with 10 miles on it.
Nice !!

Our original invoice.. custom build to my dads specs in 1977
Even have the factory floor build sheet rolled up in the seat from 1977

Sold Fords the first half of my sales career. I liked them! Worst vehicle i owned was a 2018 Ford Escape loaded to the hilt with a 1.5 engine. That engine only lasted 11000 miles before it started drinking anti-freeze, a well known problem that Ford knows about. Went to Honda after that. Honda had or still has an oil dilution problem with the 1.5 turbo engine especially if you don't drive long distances. When the warranty expired on it with 17000 miles I sold it. Thats when I went to my favorite vehicle when selling GM vehicles, the Buick! Your Ford truck is the best looking 1977 Ford I have ever seen! I am sure it has a lot of sentimental memories!

Can't argue with that being a good lookin' truck (for a Ford) ... and that's a mighty fine lookin' Buick there too NMEDGE. I was only kiddn' before, but you knew that I'm sure!!!

What do you all think, new 2025!View attachment 61712
is it made in America, or China..??

2nd, if it has a small 4 cyl, with a turbo, (which i believe many models of Buicks are made now) i know from my mechanicing days, turbos "must" be taken care of religiously, meaning on time oil changes...turbos in cars are way different than trucks.

when i went to stop at the fuel island, or park it for the night, i had to let the engine idle for a few seconds to a minute or 2 to let the turbo spin down, and not "coke" the oil and jam it....(coking the oil means the hot oil does not get to circulate and cool down, so you are basically "cooking" the oil, on the turbo bearings/races, and shaft)

on cars, the turbo only comes on like when you want to pass someone.....so "cool down time" is not needed....unless you just passed another car and got home and parked it.......there was virtually no "cool down/spin down time" at that instance....

but still....regular oil changes with the "proper" motor oils and PROPER oil filters, are paramount to long turbo life........or you end up with an exploded engine, when they shite the bed...... it's a God awful noise it all makes.....

That one is made in Lansing Michigan but some models are made in Korea with engines made in Mexico. When it comes to new vehicles who knows how good they really are made and who knows how long they will last-- no matter where they are made. You are right you really have to make sure you do oil changes on time and change timing belts as specified by manufacturers. If not they won't last long.

"throw away society", or "planned obsolescence"...

like anything else..pay high dollars, get xx number of years out of it, toss it away....

this is shy i see 40, 50, 60 and 90 year old cars still running...not too many, but there are still out there.

show me many cars since the 80's, and 90's, that will out live any of those near century old ones

i think Jay Leno has a large collection of very old, still running cars.

My latest is a 2023 Harley Ultra Limited blackout with a holster in the left saddlebag to hold my Hellcat Pro (and for quick reach) and 2 Mag holders in the right saddlebag ... for traveling in "those" states where they have to be separated and locked, ugh! Otherwise they are together in the left saddlebag or on me IWB.

I truly miss my trusty 76 Scout Terra pickup. 198 cube slant 4, four speed, am radio and heater. No power”crap” at all. Would go anywhere (not fast but reliable as a brick. Rubber seats and floor-dirty? Open the doors at the car wash and wash ‘er out.
