The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) has announced it will begin accepting orders to purchase CMP 1911 Type Pistols through Sept. 30, 2022.

Yeah that's what I was able to gather from skimming the website, I guess I am just curious where they are coming from and why the long strange process that seems competitive from their verbiage.

Limited supply is the best answer to that.

Probably US reserves, but…we lent them out to so many countries that have been slowly returning them…hard to say for certain.
