College QB 8 Million for two years.

College/university has become a joke all around. It is a business. They are more concerned with amenities (gyms, starbucks on campus, high-end dorms, etc…) to attract student rather than staying true to the true intent of education. I have worked in academia for more than 20 years and it is really sad to see the administration prioritize enrollment numbers and athletics over the core mission.
Don’t even get me started on foreign students…

I don't mind the concept. College sports, especially football and basketball, are big money items. I don't have a problem with the athletes making some money for their product.
But I don't think it's being handled correctly

I have a close friend of mine which will remain nameless who worked directly with athletes at Villanova for years. It was understood that academics was SECOND and sports was first. Fast forward, he completed his career at Princeton and it was understood that academics was FIRST and sports were second. Go figure...

I saw an article recently…….
“Can’t remember where”
A football player picked a college that had offered him a full scholarship, the reason he chose that particular school was the scholarship had no academic requirements.
Basically the school said we don’t care if you learn a life skill we are paying for you to play football.
How sad is that…..

And people wonder why we have folks with college degrees who can’t read or do basic math😏
