New Colt .22 Revolver, King Cobra Target

I guess Colt decided not to reintroduce the Diamondback but consolidate production on the King Cobra "V" frame size.

Nice they brought a .22lr revolver back but disappointed it's not the original "D" frame .22lr Diamondback.

My .02
Rumor is, it can't be called the Diamondback anymore, since Diamondback Arms has that copyright now. Hard to believe Colt would have slipped up like that, so who knows.

There's tons of products/businesses that use the word Diamondback. Colt could of called one the Diamondback II.

But I'll bet they just figured not to invest in another frame size.

They have smallish, medium & large covered now.

Here's my 1980s version Charter Arms Pathfinder .22 WMR. I like .22 revolvers because they are handy and small. This one weighs 19 ounces and drops into a hip pocket for hiking.
The big Colt looks great, but it is quite a chunk of steel for a .22.

Not wanting to further mess with my S&W pre-lock 617, last year I picked up the Czech-made RIA AL22 (blued) (K-frame-sized) for a walk-about woods .22 revolver.

I wanted a SS but other than in reviews I hadn't seen anything then but the blued ones locally or online but now the SS ones are showing up now. Also, the .22 mag version is now available & locally.

Shoots fine for its intended need.

Very nice looking

I have a few .22 LR snubnose revolvers, but I've never owned a full-sized rimfire double-action revolver. The S&W 617 has been on my radar for years, but the price-tag makes it an unlikely purchase for me. Assuming it works as expected, the new Colt King Cobra Target would definitely make my list of guns to buy "someday". I'd probably pick it over the 617, because I don't own any Colt firearms, but I'm guessing that the price is going to be higher than I'm willing to pay for a plinking gun.

I really want one of these in .22 WMR. First time I see one at a dealer, it’s going home.

Tariff will probably be high for a .22 revolver. Doesn't mean I wouldn't want one, just really hard to justify that much coin for a .22 (regardless of how cool it may be). Too many guns on my wish list that will be ahead of it 🤔
