A fundamental flaw in progressive liberalism it seems is that, at least in Europe, they choose to disarm their populace and rely on their "Culture" and "Arts" to protect them from authoritarianism. In the face of this kind of thing, you know, assuming there actually is a grassroots movement toward an autocratic system of government and it isn't just typical leftist propaganda designed to combat conservatism in the face of their own ideology of an unfettered influx of "MIgrants" and acceptance of gender fluidity, anti-capitalism and socialism, it seems to me the last thing they would want to do is disarm themselves.

Unable to rally their economies and manufacturing sectors to stop the Russian threat, the democratic socialists running the western European countries are looking to The Balkans for things like Lithium, which there is plenty of in Europe, but it can't be "Dug out" due to environmental regulations. At the same time they decry the advancement of so called "Far right" populist parties that are gaining ground in France and Germany and are forcing the other parties into uneasy alliances in order to keep the populists from gaining power.

The same can be said for what is happening in the US.
Liberty has been replace with reliance on the government and with that come sacrifice of liberty.
Fraternity has been replaced with division. No further explanation needed.
Equality has been replaced with equity (a socialist/communist construct).
Sadly we too are headed down a rough road. That fact that we are an armed populace (for now) has slowed that progress.

Culture is not protection from tyranny. Rather, culture is a construct of the mind that vanishes into thin air when the people are threatened by those who would subjugate them.

It has ever been so. Just look at history. Numerous cultures have disappeared when a civilization is overcome by external, and internal, strife.

It seems we may repeat history if we are unable to deal with the culture of liberalism.
