I've never even held one, but I believe you.
Mike Starr was one of my influences ( Alice in Chains original bassist). I looked for a Woodstock New York made Spector NS2 for a long, long time because of him. In 2015 Spector dropped the Mike Starr signature Euro LX4, which is pretty near a replica of his NS2 except it has a different ( better) preamp and it's made in The Czech Republic by a company that has been making Spector Euro models for 15 years. Of course I could have gotten a new US Spector NS2. They start around 6 grand and there's about a 2 year waiting list. I bought the Starr sig Czech bass for a shafe under 3 grand. I'm not disappointed at all. I have since A/B'ed it against the American version and literally the only difference is the the grade of body wood. Which the body is painted solid white anyway. It's the nicest bass I've ever played or owned and I own killer vintage Fender J basses and a mint 1974 Rickenbacker 4001.
Of course last year Stuart Spector sold the company to Korg so I will never buy another one, but the bass I got is top quality. I got faith in the Czechs brother.
