I was upset when manufacturers moved it to a stalk on the steering wheel column. Very difficult to reach with my foot.

Several (ok, many) years ago, my Dad bought me (us) a 1957 MGA for me (us) to restore. Found out that my rather large feet couldn't reach the one on the floor so we relocated it to the center console just aft of the stick. All I had to do was tap it with my hand -- worked great.
