No way around that

I'm too old school to want, or trust myself with an 'X' account so I guess that settles it. But my confusion is that up until a couple months ago I could click on the link and go right to the post to read it with no difficulty. Now I'm not doing anything different, but I get a msg saying I must either sign in to my account, or create a new account. I didn't make any changes, but changes happened somewhere. I'm guessing the change probably happened due to the new owner of 'X', and that's OK, it's his prerogative. I was just trying to confirm what had happened to cause it. Thnx jj
