These little pieces of colored plastic have ruined many an evening at some point after mom/dad got home. But these ain't nothing compared to 'Jacks'. Little star shaped metal objects, not much bigger than a marble that when stepped on, will send a full grown man/woman into the next stratosphere. I don't remember ever having one break the skin, but it sure seemed like a few of them went all the way through my foot from floor level to the ceiling. I used to tell my wife they really didn't hurt, it's just that it didn't take me long standing on them to know what they were!!!
