Data Disproves the Fear Of Adhering To The Constitution On Guns

So many claims by gun control advocates like Justice Stephen Breyer are about things that might go wrong, but we don’t need to guess. The data shows gun carriers are responsible.

Data Disproves the Fear Of Adhering To The Constitution On Guns

Very good article Talyn,
The article shows some of the legitimate facts have been seeing too. The other fact that I have noticed myself is almost every single firearms owner owner known and have met is usually a very responsible and considerate person. Sorry I can't say or see the same for as many non firearm owners. On either side there are also exceptions, but there are generally fewer on the firearms side.

Some may think the opposite is true, but that is usually Hollywood and media glitzing up the truth and the facts by people who rarely know or care to learn much about firearms.

I view my right to carry a firearm as a huge responsibility both to myself and society as a whole. Those of us exercising this right must remain cool-headed, even-tempered, and respectful at all times.

Those of us who have chosen the ultimate means to protect ourselves and families must ensure we keep to a higher standard.

Just my 2¢ (US)

The Left have been the best gun salesmen ever. Now that we have lived with riots, looting and radical DA's for the past few years, more folks are deciding to arm themselves against the lawless. It's not that hard to figure out, but some never learn. Lott, Clement and others like them are to be praised and cherished.

I do not carry but have a handgun for home defense (and target shooting). I have only had it for about a year and thoroughly enjoy going to the range, taking classes and learning about (and buying) different firearms. Now, during this time I have noticed a difference in the way I respond to situations that would have angered me in the past. I am much calmer. I am convinced it is because of the responsibilities of being a gun owner and living up to that "higher standard" you speak of (even though I do not carry). My thought process has changed in the last year, which I find interesting and unexpected. I like it.

Your phenomenon is a familiar one. In earlier days, in situations where I would have been in someone's face, I am now non confrontational and even more than that will withdraw from a situation when packing. The knowledge that I'm armed, along with the awareness of avoiding involvement at (nearly) all costs, keeps the lid on anger/reactions.

A federal court already forced Illinois to become a right-to-carry state, but Illinois responded by making it as difficult as possible to get a permit.
True they did. Sixteen hours of classes and then the fee to apply is $150. No carrying on any public transportation, cabs or Lyft/Uber.
The good thing cost of classes has come down from the cost at the beginning. Now they've got all kinds of bills they're trying to pass that makes it mandatory to pay for you fingerprints to be on file for both CC or the state issued FOID. That cost is $100 on average as well. So we Illinoisans also have to carry and pay for two state issued ID's in which with the new law our 10 yr FOID has been scaled back to 5 years to "match" the 5yr CCW ID. Just more and more ways to fleece the firearm owners. They are also asking for us to bear the burden of the Chicago gang bangers illegal firearm activity by implementing new taxes on ammunition purchased for the cost of gunshot wounds and hospitalations for those shot around the state.
We live in a crazy liberal state that should be locking these people up for life instead of turning them loose more times than not.

Thus, the expression, "an armed society is a polite society." You are even more evidence of that.

Man, move across the river brother. I'll help you move in your new pad. Everything you have over there we have over here, cheaper and without need for government permission.

I definitely approach situations with people I don't know differently these days. Although , I am pretty much a no BS kinda person and that hasn't changed. If I am any more laid back it's because I'm getting old.
