If I am correct it was originally called McKinley I believe. Honestly need to be doing more important things than renaming.

As others said it was originally Denali ( The Great One in the native language) and when the national park was proposed in 1916 it was proposed as Mt. Denali Nat'l Park. While the name was being argued out Pres. McKinley was assassinated so the name Changed and was officialized as Mt. McKinley in 1917. Alaska requested the name go back to Denali in 1975 in respect to the native people of the area who still and always did call it Denali. It took 40 years or so to change it back.

I personally prefer Mt Denali myself.

However, I did spend almost two years at Ft. Hood. I'd love to see that one changed back.

Tempest in a teacup. Trump is answering all the renaming nonsense during the past 4 years. An unimportant issue, but Trump lives in the minds of his detractors rent free. I think it's hilarious. Like him or hate him, you damn well can't ignore him. I for one won't expend too many of my moronic brain cells agonizing over it.
