Dire Wolf and Timber Wolf

My problem is the same folks are bound and determined to also create a new woolly mammoth. Seriously we're having a hard time keeping elephants on this Big Blue marble and they want to bring back an extinct species. Where the hell will this extinct species roam?

When I was much younger and at a duty station I left one of the housing building and saw some visitors with what looked to me was a large grey wolf with them. It was BIG.

I was amazed and met up with them & their large 4-legged "pet". It was very friendly like a reg dog and they said it was a cross with a very high % of wild wolf in it. It must have gotten it's friendly demeanor from the minor amount of domestic DNA.

I live in an area were wild wolves are common but I rarely have encountered them. I'm sure more have seen me when I was out & about.

I saw the Dire wolf report on the news yesterday & it will be interesting how that experiment turns out.
In breaking news this evening, the Center for K9 DNA Experimentation has reported two of its scientists on the Dire Wolf cloning project were mauled to death and it appears all three of the animals have escaped captivity. People in the Dallas area are advised to stay indoors until the animals can be captured.......

Annihilator, i prefer this one

That is a false report, I’ve been following this story closely and being involved in wildlife conservation for 40 years and being currently in Texas I’ve discussed the Dire Wolf introduction with wildlife conservation specialist contacts that I have, the Dire Wolf’s that were created through genetic engineering are still young and monitored for aggression.

I don't think we have much to worry yet. They have not even successfully cloned the dire wolf. They are just genetically enhanced gray wolves.

Fake news? IMPOSSIBLE!! An ill-received and feeble attempt at humor? Quite possible and VERY likely! 🤪

Your comment caused me to go down a rabbit hole. Very thought provoking. So how long do you think Mother Earth is going to let us screw with the natural balance? So we bring back an extinct species of which we were very likely the cause of extinction to begin with. But now none of the natural predators exist for that revived species and it becomes an unchecked predator. It then kills off unanticipated prey causing yet another hole in the natural order. Where does it end? How did it begin? Are we but one lab accident, or accomplishment, away from setting off a catastrophic chain of expedited evolution? Damnit! Now I'm gonna have nightmares!

Okay, so yesterday I successfully identified an easter egg dipper and a needle threader. But what the hell is that thing?!
Star trek original series phaser type 2. Type 1 is the black part on top of type 2 and can be used separately, it is easier to conceal. I assumed the type 2 is just a body that makes the phaser easier to use and point, perhaps holds additional power supply?
