I wish that everyone would shoot just a primer in your gun. Yes, eyes and ears needed. Then you'll think twice about
having that powderless, primed, round laying around in the house. Primers are quite powerful. Think Fireworks!
When I have to dispose of a hot primed case this is what Sarge does:
1. Pull the bullet
2. Discard the powder.... never reuse..... spread into lawn..... it will bio degrade
2(A) Have a firearm it will fit, Eyes & Ears, fire it off in safe direction. if no firearm, continue to #3.
3. Squirt some oil in the bottom of the case......
4. Let oil sit in case for 3-4 days.... week is fine!
5. Drain oil and swab out a little.
6. Eyes & Ears On, look away from the press, decap the primer.
7. Have a small container of oil, medicine bottle, drop primer in...…...
8. Any other unusable primers, drop them in too. No, not your fired decappings!
9. After my little bottle is about full, I take it to the disposal folks... they do paint, etc.....
I only saw the plastic type that I had. Never saw the rubber style.Do you remember the rubber bullets you could get, just put a primer in case, hand fit the rubber bullet and go shooting.

In the old Gil Hebred Gun catalog, he had those advertised in there, they worked great, black rubber and reusable
