Do You Read Firearms Magazines?

Lots of activity on the repeaters here as well as NYC when we lived there. I know a lot of people on the air here too as I brought the handheld when home for holidays, etc. About 30 of us used to gather over Christmas at a restaurant/bar that served a cafeteria sized tray of fresh steamed seafood (shrimp, lobster tail, crab, legs, clams, scallops, etc) and a salad bar including fried seafood for $16.50 with unlimited refills. Pitchers of draft beer were very reasonable as well. Sadly, it's no longer in business. The owner passed away and his kids didn't want to keep it open. We were talking about it on one of the local repeaters a couple nights ago. Lots of happy memories there!

Yep still read guns and ammo, shooting times, guns and the NRA american rifleman.
Used to have SOF subscription but let it go.
Is it even still a magazine? It's been yrs since I've seen it for sale anywhere.

It had great articles that mainstream media never covered.

Before we sold our house, I had a diamond vertical antenna and used a Yause FT-8900 radio, used to use a Kenwood TS-711A all mode, I could hit repeaters all over, since we moved, I have nothing to talk on yet, going handheld more then likely.

Had a few gun magazine subscriptions but let them lapse. Same with Playboy because I don't warm up if I'm not going to pitch!

I don't mean to start anything, but is there any truth to the rumor that you usually play the 'short game' anyway?

Ha, Ha, got you good buddy. Sorry, but couldn't resist ..... you left yourself wide open for that one. And to think you've always been such a good friend !!! ;):D:D:D

I used to subscribe to 4 or 5, but I have let them lapse. I still get American Rifleman, but often don't read it and probably won't renew my NRA membership unless massive changes are made within the organization. I'd love to start reading magazines again, but too many of them were just filled with ads and reviews of $2500-$5000 guns that I have little interest in. I also noticed the trend of any company that advertised in the magazine never getting a negative review for any of their products. I've been going to Youtube for reviews of guns I'm thinking of buying for awhile.

All Diamond verticals for 6M, 2M, and 440. I'll be glad to get them back up in the Spring. I have the Kenwood Triband FM for 6M, 2M, and 440 and a few other Kenwood's. I almost bought that Yaesu FT-8900 but didn't because of the Kenwood. I'm not looking forward to pounding in that 8' copper ground!

I only get the "American Rifleman" (with my NRA membership), and subscribe to "Rifle" and "Handloader" magazines now. I occasionally pick up a Firearms News off the newstand if it's a worthwhile issue.

Used to get/like "Shooting Times" but when G&A bought them out and changed it dramatically I dropped it. Used to also get "Combat Handguns" but dropped it also.

Used to get "Precision Shooting" also but then they folded.

You are correct. They have changed drastically. If I get one I will be at the store and on the magazine isle and one will have an article on something I am interested in so I’ll pick it up to have that one on hand. No more subscriptions though. I’ll continue to get my information from y’all.

"Rifle" and "Handloader" magazines are the only ones I see/get alot of useful content anymore.

We just bought a new place. Moving all my radio equipment and antennas this weekend. I have A Kenwood TM-V71A dual band 2m 70cm and a diamond X30A that will be up about 60 feet. My HF rigs are all Kenwood a TS-50 and AT50 tuner in the truck and a TS-570d in the shack with several homebrew wire antennas including a 8010 end fed and 20 and 40 meter dipoles in various configurations (flat tops and inverted v's) I also have a butternut vertical for 80 and 40 meters. 2 meters is very active here but my favorite way to operate is HF mobile.
