I have thought about it for my ar10 308 but the red tape seems overwhelming. Do I really have to create a “trust”
A trust allows the item to be passed down to the named persons on the trust in the event of your death.I have thought about it for my ar10 308 but the red tape seems overwhelming. Do I really have to create a “trust”
Yes. The 1911 gets extra arsenal points.Wow, definitely will. Had no idea... I only own my 1911, a .177 break-action air rifle for pigeon control in our yard and my slingshot.
Am I even allowed in this forum with that small of an arsenal?
I don't think class 3 ( machine guns) is just a $200 tax stamp is it. I think you need a class 3 FFL license. In order to own certain items that fall under the NFA (National Firearms Act—been around since the late 1930’s)—which includes machine guns, suppressors/silencers, short barreled rifles & shotguns—you need to pay/buy a $5-200 tax stamp.
Research NFA items to learn more.
No you don't have to. It makes it much easier if you plan on getting more than one.I have thought about it for my ar10 308 but the red tape seems overwhelming. Do I really have to create a “trust”
Thanks for the info. Our family had trust with farmland/estate and moved away from it in recent years when we decided to split everything up. I was unsure how it worked with suppressor.

Any NFA item can be passed down in an inheritance if you have an Will in place and instructions for the inheritor to fill out a form 5 with the ATF which is a tax exempt transfer of each NFA item.A trust allows the item to be passed down to the named persons on the trust in the event of your death.
Filing as an individual means upon your passing, the items get surrendered to Uncle Sam or destroyed since they cannot be passed on
Trusts are like $100 online
Depends on your state.I don't think class 3 ( machine guns) is just a $200 tax stamp is it. I think you need a class 3 FFL license.
That's probably the case in most free states. And I suppose it's not too long before ALL transferable machine guns are C&R eh? Do those require a tax stamp ?Depends on your state.
In MN, as long as I have a C&R FFL, I can own any C&R machine gun; no class 3 FFL or SOT required
Yes—I’m pretty sure all MG’s require registration & a stamp. That's probably the case in most free states. And I suppose it's not too long before ALL transferable machine guns are C&R eh? Do those require a tax stamp ?
In NH you only need a tax stamp as there are no state regulations on machine guns.Depends on your state.

Type of material they are made from as well as capitalism at its finest. Supply and demandBack to the OP. I got the card offer in the mail and while it caused me to pause, I tossed it. I don't understand how suppressors cost so much. If a gun with many parts cost $400-500, why do cans cost about $700-800? I would love one, but not at those prices. Seems like you should be able to get one for a couple hundred bucks. Maybe Taurus or Hi Point should start undercutting the market. Heh-heh-heh
In other parts of the world, where using a can is just good manners…you can buy them for as little as $20; these are usually only good for 2-3 rounds, though, and would be used for hunting.Back to the OP.
