Never thought of doing that with silicone….good tip

I'm a cheapskate LOL. Looking at most of the snap caps on the market, that's what it looks like they did to me.

I made a bunch of 12 gauge dummy rounds and some of them I used silicone in the primer pocket, others I used hot glue.

Hot glue would work just as well I would think. It's pliable after it cools, so the firing pin strike would "refill" after deformation.
I've never owned a hot glue gun, but I always have silicone on hand, as I use it to seal some of the circuit boards I create for my other hobby.
