Emissary 1911 - Rear Slide Overhang

Hey guys, I was just curious if anyone else that picked up an Emissary recently and encountered this issue. I just picked this up yesterday, new, and the rear of the slide is overhanging the frame. Now I know this isn't a hand fit 1911, but I own several other production 1911's, some at much lower price points, and I've never seen overhang this bad.

Does anyone think it's bad enough that I should reach out to SA? I would expect something like this from a lower price point gun from Kimber or Ruger, etc. But it kind of caught me by surprise on this one.

I don’t like that a’tall ! I’d gice them a call soon as poss…

Just looked at my new Tisas 1911 .45 bought less than 24hrs ago. (see thread My Next Gun), and the slide & frame are flush there. I’d bet my RIAs are and I’m certain my Ronins are too…
Makes me wonder if the disconnector slot could be off a bit - or anything else.

Is that in natural position or can you push it forward? If you can push it forward then the recoil spring might be bad/short/weak if all other machining process is correct? Note: I don't own any 1911 style guns.

uh....

i have a Brand NEW Kimber, AND a Ruger....

and they are (fairly) comparable in price to my Emissary, only my 2 Dan Wessons are HIGHER priced.

please do not knock other brands especially if you do not own them.

kinda makes you a gun snob.

and even unkowledagle.

Yea, the Emissary is a nice gun, but it’s not what you would call a high end 1911, my Sig cost a whole lot more the it and I wouldn’t call my Sig a high end pistol, Kimbers and Ruger’s also cost up close to the Emissary, even more just depends on the model you get, just sayin.

Not sure what unkowledagle is... But I have 2 Kimber's and a Ruger as well that are completely fine. Which is why I referenced LOWER price point in my comment, and not comparable price. I have seen many bottom tier Kimber's that have a lot of blemishes, and Ruger is fairly well known for their looser tolerances. Not sure why you're bringing up "HIGHER" priced DW's in your comment though? You're kind of all over the place bud...

Thanks to the other gents that responded, I already dropped a line to SA's customer service!

You might want to call them during the week, I know awhile back they had email issues, not quite sure if it’s been corrected.

In the "1 and done" comment brings me too why I don't own any 1911s! It as bought on "coo" factor back in '86 and without any guidance. It was my 1st semiautomatic buy (AMT Hardballer 45acp 6" barrel) that wasn't cheap. 3 things too say about it, issues, issues and issues! It might as well been a single shot! If I had knowledgeable guidance then the outcome could've been different?

I had a AMT government model way back in the day, jam city, I found out that AMT had galling issues and this is probably what caused the issues, I tried using RIG +P Stainless Steel Lube and it helped a lot.

Even if it was more reliable, I think the grip angle didn't help and have lost love for the 1911s. If Paul Harvey could've told a different story...................................

Update: So customer service got back to me, and said they'll only fix it if there's an issue with function. I told them that even if it functions now, if there is a fitment issue, it may exhibit issues long term. Their reply to that was the same, if it doesn't function properly they'll fix it. Even if it is just a blemish though, it's a pretty serious one for a pistol I paid $1399 for, which isn't cheap by any means.

My last three 1911's have been Dan Wesson, and they were flawless. So guess I'll just stick with them from now on. Funny thing is, I bought a Long Beach Operator from SA a few years back, and the slide didn't sit correctly on the frame, and I had to send it in, and they did fix that one. So either I'm extremely unlucky with SA 1911's, or they need to expand their quality control.

Are they (SA) deeming it an "extended slide"? Maybe you got more for your money?
