Emissary Range Report

I couldn’t wait to shoot my new 1911 Emissary 45ACP so off to SPB for a quick check on function, 50 rounds later the gun ran flawlessly!!!
Absolutely no FT-Feed or FT-Fire, the trigger is crisp with no creep whatsoever.
Really liked the aggressive grip which gave me a complete comfortable grip on the gun. The grip gave my a control of the gun I never felt I had with my 1911 45 Range Officer.
I never thought I’d own what I consider a high end 1911 and with the MSRP of $1349. It’s the most expensive handgun I own but now I know the reason, what a well made gun and a beautiful shooter.

25 feet great grouping.

Delighted to hear that bad boy worked out!
I am sorta/kinda reconsidering it…
I passed on one NIB for approx $1250, back last summer iirc, largely due to its aggressive looks, but also 1) the price (I had a Wilson coming already; kinda maxed me out) and 2) it seemed to have a funny feel in my hand. Now I’m wondering if that was just my imagination or something temporary… I’ve heard an awful lot good about the Emissary since then.

As I mentioned in my thread about getting the gun I’m a Springfield guy, for me they fit my hand. When I handled it the first time it just fit, the grip is aggressive but not so much as to be uncomfortable. Overall the Emissary is a great gun.

i was on a 1911 website, months ago

everyone spoke of the Emissary, but not kindly. (the look/style was too bold some said for a 1911)

i saw one but only from the reviews from yet another site.

i could care less the squared trigger guard, or the rail, or the grip from a "normal" 1911.

for $1299.99, and then let's not forget the taxman and his take on the sale.

pretty much in the D/W territory for what i paid for those 2....!!!!!

i put my name on a list, 4 were to come in, but they only got 2.

lucky i went in daily.

otherwise, had i missed that day? the next guy on the list would have gotten it.

enjoy it, you made a great choice, screw the naysayers on style.....let'em eat dried up watermelon...!!

Only gripe I have on the Emissary is the squared off trigger guard, not my thing, but this still wouldn’t stop me from getting one if I could, after all, I don’t like rails on a 1911, but I still bought the RO Operator and the Sig

I to remember saying I wasn’t to excited about the trigger guard but when I saw it it was saying……..
“goose take me home”
“goose take me home” 😁
I couldn’t resist.
If you knew me you’d know I’m not swayed by other peoples comments and does or don’ts, I follow my own feelings and this gun felt right.
And damn it shot sooooo sweet today.

There’s nothing better than when you take those first shots with a new pistol and you think - Oh Yeah…

It’s even better when you’ve dropped some serious coin on one.

When are you coming to DFW to help me keep @KillerFord1977 in his place?
I don’t think there’s enough of anything that would or could keep @KillerFord1977 in his place and the way he kills hogs I wouldn’t want to try. 😂😂😂

Too bold 😂

So prior to shooting my Emissary yesterday I pulled the slide to add some oil to critical parts however I didn’t pull the barrel or recoil spring from the slide that is saved for today. The only other 1911 I ever disassembled was my Range Officer and with that and the barrel bushing was a PITA. Today my experience was much different, I will say it took awhile to figure out how to remove the recoil spring after containing the spring with the little wrench supplied but after that everything went smoothly. The gun was much more dirty then it would be after 50 rounds so I know the gun was test fired at the factory before shipping. The gun was completely cleaned and sufficiently oiled for the next range trip.
There is one thing I’m confused about, at the muzzle end of the slide inside where the barrel sits is a machined cut on only on side, this slide does not use a barrel bushing so I’m unsure what that cut is for, anyone with ideas???

Pic would help there goose, my guess without seeing it, maybe it was cut for a bushing at the CNC during manufacture….even though that model doesn’t have the bushing

it'll be a few days until i take mine to the range again. I'll have to look at it, but too bad you didn't take any pics.

could be for that tool to slide thru the gun more easier..?? i dunno, i gotta look at mine.

yeah, that bull barrel and the recoil spring are a hoot to disassemble, but not impossible.

when i capture my RSA, with that tool., i then spray it clean with Gun Blaster or some other pray cleaner, just NOT CLP.

at the 5:04 point, that cut out below the barrel and above the guide rod..????

No this is a machined cut in the area that the barrel resides in not below it, holding the slide muzzle end away from your body it’s just inside the barrel hole on right side, starts at 12 o’clock and goes to 6 o’clock no cut on the left.
I believe @Annihilator is correct in that it is the locking cut for a barrel bushing, they are probably all cut with that and then the slide is used in the next gun with a bushing or without.
Yes I thought about taking a picture but wanted to get the gun assembled.

ok, yes, mine has that too.

Totally great video Old_Me thanks for sharing. The reviewer is correct it’s a dream to shoot, I couldn’t wait for him to take it apart and if you watch closely when he shows the slide you can see the cut I was talking about.
Understand that I’m not complaining or worried.

yeah, i had seen that video a couple of times, to learn how to field strip that particular RSA.

when i watched it again after posting, i could see that bushing cut.

my "best guess", is that S/A took many slides off the assembly line from one 1911 model, to make this new Emissary, and get it out for the introduction date and sales....?

maybe the "next generation" will be slides made specifically for the Emissary..??? and that bushing cut will simply not be there..???

and yes, i know you were not complaining...

however, not having a Snickers bars, or Milky Way bar, while typing your question, WOULD BE COMPLAINING....

and totally understandable....
