To me it would be better if they sold this ammo separately - maybe they do. I would want to shoot it at a rate of 500-1000 rounds of the practice ammo to 50 rounds of the carry ammo, ballistics and performance being the same. 50 rounds will about cover my XDM and a spare mag for carry.
That said, in my XDM, I cannot tell much difference in recoil or performance at self defense distances from 3 to 25 yards (indoor range) between my typical 115 grain ball practice ammo or my EDC 124 grain +P self defense rounds. The XDM is so heavy it really doesn't seem to matter. I imagine if I were shooting a lightweight 9mm the +P rounds may show more difference.
