Finally found one of them new XDM Elite Compacts

Spent the last 2 days on the hunt for one, as a little gift to myself for suffering through Covid for the last 2 weeks. Found one in 10mm, but was really after .45 ACP. Glad I held out because I found the .45 ACP about 40 mins after I passed on a 10mm in a different store.

On a strange and slightly annoyed note... It only came with (2) 9 round mags, but on the website it states it's supposed to be (2) 10 round mags. Thinking about reaching out to SA CS to see what the story is there....

According to the code it should be 10 round mag + 1 (chamber).

Perhaps the witness holes only shows 9 but it can really hold 10. Did you try loading it to the max to see if 9 is all they’ll hold?

Probably should have checked that before complaining.... I was indeed able to get 10 into the Mag.

Strange how the mag doesn't have a 10 window. Why would manufacturers do that/this? Others do the same thing.

It's probably the mag floor plate that allows the additional round. The mag may have been originally designed for 9 rounds until a newer extended floor plate was designed. I have a few CZ pistols that hold more rounds than the witness holes show because of a redesigned factory floor plate.

I believe they use the magazine design from the previous gen model XD-M 3.8 Compact and add the extended floor plate. That way they don't have to design a new mag from scratch.

The bottom plate allows for the additional round. On the 1cm the mag says 10 but SA includes the +1 with the extended plate. It has the flush fitting plate included that places the mags at their marked capacity.

I think I ran into this with one of my pistols. I don’t remember which manufacturer, but it could of been SA (one of my XD’s or XD-m 10mm?).

Anyone know offhand if the standard XDM or XDM Elite mags will fit in the XDM Elite Compact versions? Don't want to waste my One-Time Offer on the wrong mags. Kinda sucks that out of the 3 different set ups for the extended 13 rd mag, they only offer you Backstrap #2 format on the One-Time Offer.

I ordered the 19-round XD-M 9mm mags with sleeve for my Elite Compact. The SA website is pretty good about recommending the correct mags.

Well at least you're getting promo offers that are specific to your firearm DD22. My last few promos (M1a 6.5CM Archangel, and M1a Socom 308 Archangel), offered hats, patches, shirts or magazines that had nothing to do with the gun I was registering. Even then, the promos were only a dollar or two off their retail prices. I was able to get a decent discount on the promo when I registered my Hellcat RDP however, so I jumped on several of the 15 round mags.

They basically give you every XD related item they sell and then you have to figure out which one is compatible with their newest iteration model lol.

My 15 rd XDm 10mm magazines fit fine in my XDM-Elite 10mm Compact.

Since the only differentce I see is that they shortened the grips to make them "Compact" the everything else is the same in the frame so the longer mags will fit & lock, albei stick out the bottom.

I figure that unless I want the short mag for compact carry I can also use the 15 rders for extra capacity as needed.

I would think the .45 acp version is the same.
