I read the first Dick Marcinko book, Rogue Warrior, in my early 20s. Other than that I haven't been much influenced by reading anything.

Probably the 'badest azz' of the 'bad azzes'. RIP DM.

My all time favorite was Skeeter Skelton.

When Shooting Times (then owned by the Peoria Journal Star) held their "writer get togethers" in Peoria they used the same gun range that I also used. Thanks to a friendship with George Nonte I was able to meet and socialize with all of them when they came to town. They each had their claims to fame but I found it interesting that all of them were genuinely afraid of Skeeter Skelton and even Charles Askins wasn't interested in getting on his bad side.
