Flying recoil spring plugs

similar precautions are necessary when disassembling a bolt.
i was warned to watch for the firing pin spring to release after the pin was removed from the bolt plug.
hold on tight an be prepared.... alas, i was not prepared. BOING!!!

Mine landed on a ledge of the stringer in the basement. Thought to look there because I didn't hear it hitting the floor.

Not sure how many remember the Colt Officers ACP model when it came out, the plug had a small tab sticking out that fit into the recess in the slide, and these were nortorious for the tab breaking and the plug exiting the slide, mine did this just after a couple hundred rounds, replaced it with a Ed Brown full length guide rod system with a slight modification to the slide.
