Shots on target is the only true measure of success. If you have great and consistent presentation you are already 90% there.I will admit that I am an “old fart,” but I have always shot with focus on the target rather than the front sight. I know (based on the all-knowing internet), that Navy Seals and any other shooter with any skills focuses on the front sight. I have tried doing that a few times, but then my shooting looks like the guys with the battering ram, not that it looks all that good anyway!

I will refer you to "Red Dot Mastery" by Mike Ochsner and especially to Chapter 4, which deals with Sensory Integration. Although this book is about presentation as it relates (primarily) to red dots, the concepts and drills also correlate to iron sights. The take away is that you should not have to rely on your sights to "look for" the target. Proper presentation will get you on target, and sights are for "fine tuning." These techniques will also help you to reduce split times in competitive shooting.
My sarcasm used a smaller font.
