The Mfg has test guns way in advance to gun 'zine writers ( old school ) Internet creators ( new school ) Long in advance of actual availability. ( And of course every review is glowing, wink - wink ) .
X % of readers / viewers are enthralled by the Glowing Reviews ( wink wink ) , and big build up of initial demand . When actual product trickles out , there are waiting lists and / or Market Will Bear prices .
Reality Checks :
99.5 % of the time , the newest, latest greatest hyped product really isn't ground breaking, and not significantly different in filling any vaguely real requirements, than existing similar products .
Don't by an Actually New Gun for the first year it's out for two reasons.
The initial bugs will have been discovered & fixed .
The " street price " will have stabilized at a rational price point .
OR conversely, the substantially similar guns that all the Frenzy Buyers traded in will be plentiful on LGS shelves, lightly used , at bargin prices .

I've got all the * need * boxes already checked, so it's got to be something Interesting.
I've just been thinking about how long since buying a * New * handgun . 2013 , and it had been a long time Before those .
