All the clocks are striking thirteen.

“It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen,” wrote George Orwell at the outset of Nineteen Eighty-Four. Given that we are in April of 2024, now is a good time to check the United States of America for comparisons to the novel.

Life imitates art? We are living in strange and tumultuous times.
I don’t think it has to be this way though. Reasonable people on opposite sides of the spectrum can find common ground. The problem is that someone/something is standing in the way of that happening.
