Front Sight for 1911 Garrison

I want to put a fiber optic front sight on my SA 1911 Garrison. I understand that it has a proprietary SA cut (rather than Novak) but don't know what height I should get. Also, how big a deal is it to push out the old sight and push in a new one? Best to use Loctite?

Tall will give you a shorter range and shorter gives you distance for front sights! Other than that I have no clue!

If you have 0.340" width front sight dovetail you need a Springfield sight.
If it is 0.330" wide it uses a Novak sight.

The calculate link will show you how to measure your front sight.
Just for grins (assuming that I break down and buy a caliper), what are you meaning by width? Front-to-rear at the top of the cut or front-to-rear at the bottom of the cut? Do you know, off hand, which one SA uses on their 1911s?

With magnum research DE replaceable/changeable sights state dawson, but never checked width. Width as in width or length?
The width 0.330, 0.340 is the bottom of the sight dovetail from front to rear

The .330 / ,329 dimension in this drawing-

EXACTLY! That's why I throw away instructions! Perspective most likely? Length of the cut going across the width of the slide would be pointless I guess? Measuring from front to back as going length of the slide most likely?
