Gas Key Staking Tool

Best gas key staking tool?
Welcome to the forum.

There's nothing fancy about staking a gas key and this is normally done with a punch like the one in the link below.

If you have not staked a gas key before you may want to watch a few YouTube videos to save yourself a headache.

Thanks
Automatic Center Punch?
You would be better off with a small brass hammer so you can control the amount of impact easier. A bad staking means buying a new gas key.

Real Avid makes a really nice armours tool kit for working on AR's and it comes with everything you will need for a start to finish build.

Primary Arms has a discount code on the banner for an additional 12% off so this kit would be roughly $220.00

Thanks, I have the kit and the punch works great for staking the castle nut. Never thought to use it for the gas key.
I also purchased the Real Avid Master Gun Vice. Recommend it highly.
Thanks again
Just found this on Brownells though I've never tried one myself it looks like an interesting tool.

This tool appears to have good reviews.

As I wrote in the other thread ( https://www.thearmorylife.com/forum...loose-where-to-go-from-here.9206/#post-141864 ), I've only ever used the MOACKS - http://www.m-guns.com/tools.php . I unfortunately have not had the opportunity to try others.

Chad Albrecht of SOTAR recommends for this purpose *_ONLY* this tool.

^ In case that FB post doesn't open (I don't remember if it's a Closed Group), here's the pertinent text, verbatim:

There is no other good option. I have tried them all. I suggest you avoid using striking tools to stake from the side of the Gas Key. Doing so will stress the Gas Key Screws.
