On Glocks I always ran my finger on the extractor to check if it was loaded in the dark.

I have owned some Glocks and trained many on them, and attended the armorer course at the factory in Georgia. They are reliable and durable. But you just can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear.

I had it put to me like this - for the range, for hunting, for competition -pick what works, looks nice etc. for you own carry pick what is reliable first, durable like HG says, and don't worry about looks. Yes the glock looks like the 2000's F-150, squared around the corners, not pretty but it works and lasts. So I have a few makes, but I usually carry Glock. my 2 cents

If you like them, they feel good and shoot good for you then it make perfect sense. For me they felt like I was holding a 2 ×4 and shot about as well so moved on.

They probably have more aftermarket parts to rival even 1911s. So they certainly are doing things right.

…well, not a bad idea Tex. Some damfools will surely buy ‘em !
But I was thinking more along the lines of the low-fuel light on my dash… some LED light thingy on back of the slide that means “3 rounds til empty” or something.
