True. Weird piercings can also become quite dangerous around animals, tools, implements. Looks were never the issue. . .

I've never so much seen it with a horse but I've known people who have got their finger stuck in machinery because of jewelry and it ripped finger right off

I don't wear any rings myself. When I first started shooting, I discovered that my class ring was screwing up the checkering on my handguns. I've told The Lovely Mrs. Snake that I don't wear my wedding band because "It attracts the wrong kind of women." I get zero argument from her on that.

Safety videos in the military scared the bejeezus out of most of us. Working around aircraft I never wore any kind of jewelry except a watch with a leather strap. It wasn't until many year after I separated from the military that I started wearing the odd ring or bracelet. Now I work in manufacturing. I wear my wedding ring and my grandmother's wedding ring, but I wear gloves all day because I handle wood and fiberglass. The military made me very conscious of safety with regard to long hair and jewelry.
